The St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks are leaving it all out on the ice tonight. Including Ryan Reaves, who has left it all out on the ice, plus a tooth.
Insert random “hockey players are tough” reference here before watching.
As you can see from the Vine (courtesy of Fake SportsCenter), Reaves takes a bit of a nasty bump from Brent Seabrook. Reaves proceeds to hit the boards face first, which can’t feel very good. This is Ryan Reaves that we are talking about thogh, and he may or may not be able to feel any pain.
The 6’1″, 224-pound winger didn’t have time to allow a trainer to properly pull out his loose tooth. He has a game to play against a rival team, so Reaves decided to be his own dentist. NHL players have to posses some ridiculously outstanding dental coverage anyway, right?
This contest has a playoff feel to it, which makes sense since these two squads are probably going to meet each other in the first round again. If the last two games are any indication, that’s going to be a rock ‘em, sock ‘em series full of hits and pops much like this one.
As for Reaves, it’s a positive thing that he only lost a tooth on the play. It could have been a bit worse had things gone just a bit differently.
