The Arizona Coyotes fanbase was obviously disappointed after the Edmonton Oilers won the Draft Lottery and got the first-overall pick in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. The Oilers’ win in the lottery means that the Coyotes drop down to third and will with all certainty miss out on Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel—two centers that are believed to come in and play straight away and be franchise players.

So what options are available to the Coyotes?

McDavid would have been the ultimate prize as he’s being described as a generational talent and that would have been a great boost to the Coyotes lineup. His arrival would have really kick started the rebuild in the desert. Wayne Gretzky recently spoke about McDavid and said he was the best talent in the last 30 years.

Getting Eichel would have been an excellent consolation price, as he too is suppose to be an elite-level talent that should be NHL-ready as soon as next season. But behind these two, there are still several extremely interesting prospects. Here’s my list of potential players for the Coyotes, one for each position.
