Fantasy Hockey: DraftKings Lineup – February 10

A vital part of being a successful DFS hockey player is being able to assemble a strong cash game or double up team.  The goal is to find the best value in each player through the system you use as well as exploiting matchups and factoring in ownership percentage. Today, it’s all about finding “Mr. Right”, as I try to grab a few guys from each game, hoping that one will pay off big.

On DraftKings, I like to start with the goaltender. They are the foundation of your team and set the monetary average of each player as you build the rest of your lineup.

G: P. Mrazek, Detroit – $7,700

Mrazek has been on fire for the past dozen games, winning 9 and surrendering only 2 losses. With an impressive 0.933 save percentage and 2.0 goals against average (GAA) he faces a Ottawa team that has been leaky in goal.  Detroit has been strong at home, ranking in the top ten in goals against, all while putting the puck in the net.  Coming off a shutout of Florida, Detroit is a tough match up for Ottawa.  Look for a strong dose of Larkin and Zetterberg tonight as Detroit rolls through Ottawa, making Mrazek the favorite to get the win at home.

D: K. Letang, Pittsburgh – $6,700

Kris Letang has been playing super as of late, and at home tonight against the rival Rangers with such a small slate, he is a must-play.  With 31 assists to go along with 10 goals, Letang averages 26 minutes of ice time and has 133 shots on goal this year.  On the power play or even strength, Letang is dangerous and that makes him a strong play tonight.

D: O. Ekman-Larsson, Arizona – $6,100

Ekman-Larsson is possibly one of the best defensemen in the league. Averaging 3.7 Fantasy Points per game (FPPG) and with 161 shots on goal, he has amassed 15 goals and 23 assists so far this year. A power play specialist, he faces off against a tired Vancouver team who got beat once again last night. Since they’re prone to taking penalties, a this back-to-back for the Canucks will likely give Ekman-Larsson and crew plenty of chances on the man advantage at home.

W: D. Larkin, Detroit – $5,600

Once again, Larkin finds himself in a nice matchup at home facing a Ottawa team struggling to keep the puck out of the net.  Larkin sees 17 minutes of ice on average and commands respect on the power play. With 18 goals and 147 shots on the year, Larkin will be licking his chops tonight facing a Senators team that averages 3.2 goals allowed on the year. Look for him to have a big game and get on the scoreboard.

W: M. Domi, Arizona – $4,600

Domi and Arizona need this game to get back in gear.  Vancouver is in the bottom 5 teams giving up goals on the road this year, while Arizona is in the top ten in team goal scoring. This matchup creates a nice opportunity for Domi and the power play crew.  With 13 goals and 22 assists this year, Domi is one of this year’s best rookies and a good value play this evening.

W: P. Kessel, Pittsburgh – $6,400

With Malkin still out of the line up,  Kessel’s ice time has seen an increase and his point production is starting to show dividends. Averaging almost 20 minutes a game, he has totals on the year of 162 shots and 34 points. Playing with Crosby doesn’t hurt either, as the two share power play time yet play on different lines.  Running the two as a “stack” tonight, I like to be able to capitalize on two different, but potent line combinations.

C: S. Crosby, Pittsburgh – $8,100

“Sid the Kid” has been on fire at home, scoring in the past ten as his Penguins continue to play better, even without Malkin.  Crosby has 53 points and 161 shots on goal this year and has found his scoring touch.  Crosby will continue his scoring streak at home tonight as the Pens continue their winning ways.

C: M. Boedker, Arizona – $4,600

Boedker faces a tired Canucks team and will see plenty of ice tonight at home. He has 13 goals and 22 assists this year already.Boedker shoots the puck a ton, too, with 131 shots on the year, and with  17 minutes off ice time average he finds himself in a great match up at home.  Both on the power play and even strength, Boedker is a strong play tonight as getting exposure to a game Vegas has going over 5.5 goals is a must.

UTILITY: D. Brassard, Rangers – $5,800

I definitely want some exposure to the Rangers game tonight and best feel it’s done through Brassard. Without Nash still, this team is relying on its veterans to get the job done.  Brassard averages over 18 minutes a game and plays both on the top line and top power play unit. With almost 20 goals this year and a 3.2 FPPG average, Brassard is a safe way to get exposure to the Rangers tonight.
