It’s Saturday and DraftKings has a great GPP in the Saturday Special with $10,000 going to the winner and a total of 1,734 entrants — so get over there and get in the action. Let’s jump right in and see what kind of team we have this evening.

We have a healthy 12-game slate this evening and that means it time to head out to look at Vegas to begin constructing our roster for tonight.

Jamie Benn $7,600

Tyler Seguin $7,500

Ales Hemsky $4,300

Vegas seems to really be convinced that Dallas is going to dominate the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight, setting an astronomical goal total of six and 3.01 for Dallas. Heavily favored at home as well, Florida is in a similar spot facing off against the Colorado Avalanche, who are coming to the end of their road trip. Colorado has been giving up the second-most power play goals on the road (Chicago is first with 11).

I wanted to add in Spezza to the mix but settled on the return of Hemsky to help this line put up points. A dynamic player who has great vision and presence on the ice, Hemsky is a perfect fit alongside Seguin and Benn. Tonight could be his break-out game where has a few points as the Stars roll over the Blue Jackets in the desert.

Aleksander Barkov $6,200

Jaromir Jagr $5,000

Keith Yandle $4,300

Vincent Trocheck $4,900

I think Florida takes advantage of Colorado’s tired legs and comes out firing on all cylinders at home. Barkov and Jagr head up a strong first line as well as two-thirds of the top power play unit. Florida is projected to score more than 5.5 goals while Colorado is slated to score 2.42 goals total. The first line has been getting the job done at home this year, and the addition of Marchessault on the top line helps add speed to the two big power forwards in Barkov and Jagr.

Jussi Jokinen is not playing tonight, so someone will have to fill in on the second line between Smith and Trocheck, so keep an eye open for that. I added Trocheck in the mix here because I wanted exposure to both lines and even had Smith in there too, but in the end I felt it was a bit too over-loaded.

Tom Gilbert $2,700

Peter Budaj $7,500

I wanted to initially roster Luongo, but I couldn’t fit him when push came to shove. I settled for Budaj, who is facing the Vancouver Canucks who have been playing well, but still struggle to score goals. The Kings have found a little swagger and I think they continue their winning ways at home against a Vancouver team that will have their somewhat skewed stats average out over the next few games. Enjoy it while it lasted Vancouver!!!

My one-off defenseman is a bit of a punt as well, in Tom Gilbert for the Kings. Not exactly a scorer, I am looking for him to get points from blocked shots and shots on goals while looking for a point if I can get one. If you want to try to fit in Smith and Spezza while shifting around Yandle and Jagr, you can also try to fit in Luongo if you can afford it or want to play two punts on defense.

Please try to roster a team you like. I am only trying to give you a snapshot into the thinking that goes into roster construction and the system it entails. This is only meant as guide for you to structure your own team and to find a system that works well for you. Happy hunting!
