Despite Holtby and the Capitals choking last night, our team cashed out nicely as the Dallas/Wild game carried us through to the money. I played the exact team on a $33 entry on DraftKings and finished in the top 10 percent, even without a win from our goalie. Today we have a small 3 game slate, which is tough, but is still fun to play.
G: F. Andersen, Anaheim – $8,200
The Ducks led the NHL in defense on the Penalty Kill and at even strength. I don’t care about who won on the road and all that jazz (as both teams dropped their games at home so far), Andersen and the Ducks are a better team and will prove it again tonight.
D: B. Skjei, NY Rangers – $2,600
We needed a cheap defenseman and who better than newcomer Skjei who gets opportunities on the power play as well, logging 19 plus minutes of ice a game. That is value I can’t pass up in order to roster someone more expensive…
D: K. Letang, Pittsburgh – $7,500
…like Kris Letang. Letang is too good and plays too much to not pay up for on such a small slate. With Crosby and Malkin in the mix today trying shut the door on a New York team that is looking for scoring.
W: C. Sheary, Pittsburgh – $3,100
Sheary is coming off a game with a breakaway goal, and some elevated confidence since he got placed on the Malkin line. Sheary is low priced with a nice upside as his picks up the scraps from Malkin.
W: J. McGinn, Anaheim – $4,600
McGinn is slotted on the second line and gets time on the power play as well. Look for this tandem to help Anaheim get the win they deserve and take a commanding lead in the series.
W: C. Stewart, Anaheim – $3,600
Stewart plays on the top line with Getzlaf as well as the second power play with McGinn and Rickard Rakell, both on our team tonight. I think the price and value of the three, coupled with their time on ice, is worth the money.
C: Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh – $8,400
Sid the Kid is does not want to go back to New York and after seeing the debacle in Washington yesterday, he will look to finish off the Rangers this afternoon on NBC. I like Crosby to do a better job than Ovechkin and lead his team to the next round.
C: R. Rakell, Anaheim – $4,600
Rakell and McGinn play on the same line and are coming off a good game that saw the two get on the board. I like this line at home with Anaheim having the last change.
Utility: E. Malkin, Pittsburgh – $7,500
Malkin is back in form and will look to continue his scoring ways today at home. Malkin, Crosby and Letang all see a ton of time on the first power play unit. Look for special teams to be a key in the game today.
