The Columbus Blue Jackets have never won a playoff series. In fact, up until 2014, they had never even won a playoff game.
That could all change next season though.
After a disappointing 2014-15 campaign that saw Columbus get obliterated by injuries and miss the playoffs, there are suddenly plenty of reasons for optimism going forward. Granted, the Eastern Conference — particularly the top half — should be pretty tough next season.
Locking up a playoff spot won’t be as “easy” as maybe it has seemed over the past few years. And the Metropolitan Division is especially difficult to navigate, with the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals not likely to drop off, the New York Islanders continuing to trend upward and (at some point) the Philadelphia Flyers maybe even realizing they have two of the top point producers in the league on their roster and converting that into some more wins.
So the path back to the postseason won’t be all that simple to find. Still, there are quite a few compelling arguments that can be made in the Jackets’ favor.
