Elliotte Friedman was on Calgary’s Sportsnet 960 on Thursday afternoon.
As part of a much larger discussion on the Patrick Kane press conference earlier in the day, and the situation in general :
“I had a friend who’s a lawyer who watched that press conference today, and he called me right after. And he said, ‘The president of the Blackhawks could be in real trouble after this today.’
“And I go, ‘Okay, why do you think that?’
“And he said, ‘Because his opening statement was ‘After talking to Patrick Kane’s legal team,’ ‘
“And I’m just basically – I’m not quoting verbatim, I’m just repeating what I remember.
“But he said, ‘After talking to Patrick Kane’s legal team, we believe he has the right to be here.’
“He thinks that John McDonough is going to get subpoenaed now by the Grand Jury. He said if it was him who was working the case, either as the prosecutor or the defense, (he) would say that guy’s a witness now because he’s been told – he even came out and said he’s been told what’s going on. So I’d want to know what he’s been told and I’d want to know what he knows.
“So I’m curious now to see if my friend is right and McDonough gets called to be part of this. And that’s only going to make the situation even crazier.”
