Elliotte Friedman was on Calgary’s Sportsnet 960 on Friday morning.

As part of a larger discussion on the early struggles of Columbus, and on how given the contentious history between Ryan Johansen and the Blue Jackets, if other GMs may be trying to pry the center away for a much-needed defenseman:

“Yeah, I don’t think there’s a chance that’s going to happen. I think in Columbus – they know what they’ve got there. I don’t think they’re moving Ryan Johansen.

“I mean, they’ve got the big contract battle coming up in a year from now and they know that. They know it’s going to be something like that. But they also know – how many No. 1 centers are there? And once you trade one, you’re always looking and saying, ‘Boy, did we make a mistake.’

“You have to get a – if you’re going to trade Ryan Johansen, you have to get a legit, high-impact player who’s going to play for you for a long time.

“That’s a tough trade to make, man.”
