Carolina Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters was on Toronto’s SiriusXMNHL on Friday afternoon.

On how his top two lines might look, on where Jeff Skinner fits in, and if it starts with Jordan Staal down the middle on the first line:

“Staalsy and Rasker are going to be our top two centers, no matter how you look at it, and we’ll figure it out from there. So there’s your top two.

“Skinny’s a goal-scorer. I think Skinny’s a real smart player. He can play with Lee Stempniak, so whoever plays in the middle plays in the middle.

“And then you’ve got a guy who’s going to emerge in Elias Lindholm, who’s going to be a real good player. The line of Nordstrom, Staal, and Nestrasil was very effective last year for us, but more as a shutdown line. So if we want to use that as a shutdown line, we can. If we want to bump Jordan up into more of a scoring role, we can do that.

“Teravainen, you know what his skill level’s like. The Aho kid – I’ve coached against, I’ve been on the ice with him. He’s got elite hockey sense.

“So there’s our top-nine. I don’t look at it as a top-six. I really believe we have an elite, a really deep top-nine, and we’re going to rely on those guys to generate offense. We’ve got to activate our D. We’ve got to get more out of our D. The Pesces, the Hanifins, the Slavins, the Faulks of the world – we need more out of those guys. We’re going to turn those guys loose and get our fourth guy into the rush consistently, from the first shift to the last shift.”
